  • Bio: GE appointed Elyse Allan as President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Canada in October 2004 with a mission to grow GE’s businesses in Canada and to strengthen the Company’s leadership in the areas of technology, media, and financial services.

    She began her career with General Electric in Corporate Marketing where she worked with numerous GE businesses, including energy, aircraft engines and plastics. She subsequently joined GE Canada where she held senior roles in corporate, lighting and appliances. Prior to her current position, Elyse was a senior executive at Ontario Hydro and then became President and Chief Executive Officer of the Toronto Board of Trade, where she strengthened and increased its national profile as one of Canada’s leading business associations.

    Elyse serves on the Board of Directors for several leading Canadian organizations, including: the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, the C.D. Howe Institute, the Public Policy Forum and the Royal Ontario Museum. Elyse is also a member of the Young President’s Organization and was appointed to the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy. Recently, she chaired the Board for Providence Healthcare, a leading Toronto healthcare institution.

    Elyse received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology & Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and an MBA degree from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth. She has an honorary doctorate from Ryerson University in Toronto. Elyse has served her alma mater as a member of the Board of Visitors for Dartmouth’s Rockefeller Centre for Public Policy and as Co-chair of her Class Alumni campaigns.
